Many Internet service providers change your IP address on a regular basis. With Dynamic DNS you can keep your domain pointing at the current IP of your networking devices (computers, Internet centers, webcams).

This service is intended for assigning a bright and easy-to-remember permanent domain name to your networking device, so that this name will not depend on the IP address to be used (dynamic or static). Hostname with dynamic DNS will be mapped to your dynamic IP address. When IP address is changed, dynamic DNS client will send a notification to the servers of the DNS-master service with a current IP address, and the changes will be propagated throughout the Internet in a matter of seconds.

Common uses for Dynamic DNS:

  • Set up a remote desktop connection to access your home PC
  • Host your websites on a home server
  • Run a mail server, FTP server, or any other server, etc.

Requirements

To use dynamic DNS, you need to have:

  • A registered domain name. You may register a domain name with any registrar, for example, RU-CENTER.
  • A device to which dynamic DNS will be mapped, with an external IP address.
  • A networking device supporting this feature.

Dynamic DNS service is already included in all plans of RU-CENTER’s DNS-hosting.
